Character profile

I chose all my characters to get a variety of male and female characters and a variety of age ranges to represent two different social groups. 5/6 characters are between 17-18 which helps to target the ideal audience of the brief (16-25 year olds) and allow them to relate to the performers therefore it may be more enjoyable to the targeted audience/age range than to other watchers. The older woman (Karin) represents someone from a different social group to the 17/18 year olds and also is a large part in the narrative - an older lady looking back on memories. All the performers know each other well so there will be a natural connection shown in the video - helping the narrative to look highly realistic due to the performers not acting/faking the friendship.

Corrections for Website 1st Draft

From my first draft my corrections were: - Add Ken Burns effect on certain shots to create movement on them and add more 'life' those shots. - Trim 1:48 because it looks like my performers are waiting to be told to begin by the producer(me). - Change summer '19 on the polaroids to summer '91 to help the narrative be clearer. - Add more footage of the older woman because the narrative is not 100% clear and may be confusing to viewers who do not know my idea.  - Fill the dead time, that i have of the teenagers dancing, with more shots of the older women. This will also help the correction above.  How I changed these: - I was unable to add on the Ken Burns effect on the editing software I was using so this correction could not be completed.  - I changed the polaroid shots from summer '19 to summer '91. - I also changed many of my shots around and took out some of the dancing to create space for shots of the older woman. Music Video Analysis

The Vamps 'Somebody to you'  music video analysis: How is this a pop music video? This music video has many conventions of a pop music video. For example it focuses on the band in a mixed narrative/performance video of them trying to impress a group of girls. The narrative is emphasised by the beach location and the idyllic sunset lighting - in some shot the sun is shining behind the girls heads and could be argued this shows the girls as like a dream or angelic. When Demi Lovato features in the video she is shown only a mist around the edges of the screen, maybe suggesting she is also like a dream for the boys (supported by her never being in the same location as the boys). The beach is a safe, high key lit location which fits the convention of pop videos appealing to all audiences ages. The bands clothing is relatively fashionable to that time and this could help to maintain their target mainstream audience; when playing football the boys are seen wearing coloured t shirts ...
