Costumes & Props


My costumes:

All my performers will wear casual clothing with a pop of colour. This will fit the fun-loving audience brief and link to the pop genre throughout the use of colour to have connotations of happiness.  This will also help 16-25 year old viewers relate to the video through the use of recent fashion trends.

1.  My male performers will wear blue jeans and a t-shirt ⇒
2.  My female performers will wear jeans/trousers or a skirt with colour           within them.


My Props:
1. Polaroid pictures = I will use these to help with the narrative. The first picture will show the teenage group in the spot where the older woman is looking- highlighting that this was her when she was younger. The location of the picture will be in the exact same spot that the woman is standing in (1st shot) and allow the audience to gain understanding for the narrative.

2. Polaroid Camera = This will be used in the different locations throughout the video. The camera will help to link the narrative idea, of looking back on memories, through the whole video and help the viewers of the production to see a clear link between the different times

3. A pen = This will be used to write the date along the bottom on the polaroid of the teenager group. This date will be shown on the picture when the older woman is holding it, helping to link and explain the narrative to the audience of the video.

4. Fairy lights = These will help to show the change of time in day because it will now be night and they also create a different atmosphere within the video. These will also tend to the brief of a fun-loving audience because these coloured lights will help create a bright scene and link to the pop genre.

5. Photo book = I will use this to help make the narrative clear. It will only appear in scenes with the    older woman when she is looking at the memories within them. In some shots it will show the polaroid (mentioned previously) in the book.

Corrections for Website 1st Draft

From my first draft my corrections were: - Add Ken Burns effect on certain shots to create movement on them and add more 'life' those shots. - Trim 1:48 because it looks like my performers are waiting to be told to begin by the producer(me). - Change summer '19 on the polaroids to summer '91 to help the narrative be clearer. - Add more footage of the older woman because the narrative is not 100% clear and may be confusing to viewers who do not know my idea.  - Fill the dead time, that i have of the teenagers dancing, with more shots of the older women. This will also help the correction above.  How I changed these: - I was unable to add on the Ken Burns effect on the editing software I was using so this correction could not be completed.  - I changed the polaroid shots from summer '19 to summer '91. - I also changed many of my shots around and took out some of the dancing to create space for shots of the older woman. Music Video Analysis

The Vamps 'Somebody to you'  music video analysis: How is this a pop music video? This music video has many conventions of a pop music video. For example it focuses on the band in a mixed narrative/performance video of them trying to impress a group of girls. The narrative is emphasised by the beach location and the idyllic sunset lighting - in some shot the sun is shining behind the girls heads and could be argued this shows the girls as like a dream or angelic. When Demi Lovato features in the video she is shown only a mist around the edges of the screen, maybe suggesting she is also like a dream for the boys (supported by her never being in the same location as the boys). The beach is a safe, high key lit location which fits the convention of pop videos appealing to all audiences ages.
