My Storyboards

Image
My storyboards show my original shots for my first draft of my production. However for my second and final production i made added more shots of the older woman looking through photos to make the narrative more prominent and clearer, therefore this storyboard does not show the final product but it does highlight my idea and many of the shots that are still in the final production.

Locations and Risk assessment

Image
Location 1 : Burbage woods I chose this location because it is safe with high key lighting, due to the open space; this links to pop music videos with a happy feel to them, so by using this location I aim to create the same mood. This location will be used at the beginning of the video for the first string of the narrative; all performers will be seen in this location. Location 2 : Outside of house I chose this location to help show/explain the narrative to the audience and make it more understandable. Here I will show the older women looking in on the home and then switching to the younger teenager running towards it. Location 3: House garden I chose this location to link to my narrative - this will be her childhood home when she is looking back on her memories. This location is also safe and has high key lighting. I will show the group playing football and dancing in this location. Location 4 : Living room - inside of house I chose ...

Shooting Script

Character profile

Image
I chose all my characters to get a variety of male and female characters and a variety of age ranges to represent two different social groups. 5/6 characters are between 17-18 which helps to target the ideal audience of the brief (16-25 year olds) and allow them to relate to the performers therefore it may be more enjoyable to the targeted audience/age range than to other watchers. The older woman (Karin) represents someone from a different social group to the 17/18 year olds and also is a large part in the narrative - an older lady looking back on memories. All the performers know each other well so there will be a natural connection shown in the video - helping the narrative to look highly realistic due to the performers not acting/faking the friendship.  Liz Meg Luke Charlie Tori Karin

Costumes & Props

Image
My costumes: All my performers will wear casual clothing with a pop of colour. This will fit the fun-loving audience brief and link to the pop genre throughout the use of colour to have connotations of happiness.  This will also help 16-25 year old viewers relate to the video through the use of recent fashion trends. For example: 1.  My male performers will wear blue jeans and a t-shirt ⇒ 2.  My female performers will wear jeans/trousers or a skirt with colour           within them. My Props: 1. Polaroid pictures = I will use these to help with the narrative. The first picture will show the teenage group in the spot where the older woman is looking- highlighting that this was her when she was younger. The location of the picture will be in the exact same spot that the woman is standing in (1st shot) and allow the audience to gain understanding for the narrative. 2. Polaroid Camera = This will be used in the different locations th...

Images of Artists

Images of Artist : I will take images of my female artist aged 17 with colourful clothes on whilst smiling- helping to reach my targeted fun loving audience. There will be 5 or 6 pictures, some in a high key white room with a plain background to highlight the artist features - some close up and some full body shots. The others will be on set in the locations from the production - for example in Burbage woods - with natural lighting. These will help to link my website and video together through the use of the same locations. The photos will be uploaded to my home page of my website letting the fans/audience of the artist see both media texts. AV content: I will film an interview with my artist talking about the charity within the video and why it is important to her'. This will give both audiences, from each media text, an insight to why the charity is important and help them to feel closer with the artist because of the informal structure. It will also show a small part of th...

Artist's Logo

Image
This is my artist's logo, this will be used on my website and in my production. My logos background is black with a blue line across - these colours link to my production company logo (and will be carried out as a theme on my website). This logo and the production company logo will be used at the beginning of the music video before the title of the song is shown. The production company logo will be seen first on a black screen then it will cut to my artists logo. The logo will then fade, letting the title of the song be shown whilst the narrative begins behind it (this will be the older woman walking in the first location).

Permission to use song

Image
These emails show that I have permission to use the song ‘She Loves Control’ by Camila Cabello but only published on a private account for a select audience. This means that i will post it on my YouTube account but as unlisted meaning only the people with a link (given by me) can view it.

Statement of Intent

Statement of Intent: Music video In my music video I plan to use media language to create a pop music video with a clear concept of fun and enjoyment appealing to the target demographic of a fun-loving 16-25 year old mainstreamers. To achieve this I will use performers of old and young generations to show two different social groups  within a hybrid of both performance and narrative video types. An older woman will be looking back on past memories of her as a young adult/teen enjoying herself but also showing the old women as a single women still enjoying life, highlighting the anti-stereotype of old women being lonely and family orientated, intertwining this with a fun-loving audience.  I will use locations like country parks and childhood homes to reflect the teenage group enjoying themselves and being young (helping with the verisimilitude of the video through real life sets like the childhood home) but also appealing to local and international audiences because o...

My Ideal Audience Member

My Ideal Audience Member: My ideal audience member would be a fun-loving 16-25 year old. Their everyday clothing would be brightly coloured and include mainstream elements/brands, to go along with new trends, but showcase their individuality. This audience member would listen to a variety of pop artists within the same age bracket; for example Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran would be relatable and endearing to my ideal audience member. This member would eat at brands like McDonalds and Pizza Express because they very mainstream and popular worldwide.  VAL (Values, Attitude & Lifestyle) Type: Ideal Members: Actualisers, Achievers, Experiencers, Strivers.  These 4 audience types would all be targeted within my music video; having a wide range of mainstream members allows a massmarket for pop artists to appeal to and create for.  These 4 types create a range of people, from popular image driven individuals to young impulsive adults who bore easily and quickly...

Recreation of music video

This is my recreation of  ‘What I go to school for’ by Busted. In this video I have tried to recreate the original video through mirroring shots, and planning locations to look as authentic as the original.
